A few of my creations...
I made these for my sister's baby shower. Little onesies, baby carriages, teddy bears, and rocking horses. Lots and lots of cookies.

Chocolate Coke Cake
My great aunt used to make this ever so delicious chocolate coke cake. I have completely forgotten about it until recently. I found this while wandering about online. So here is my documented experience. A little side note, the recipe calls for pecans in the chocolate glaze. My thoughts are to add them. I forgot to buy them. It is still good without them but they would add a little texture.
This is the beginning cake batter mixture.

Chocolate glaze heating on the stove.

Five Things
Happy Friday!! I want to talk about five things that happened this week or little somethings that made me happy.
1. My car is fixed!!! My rear hub bearings were bad and they were making this horrid, loud noise in my car. My boss' brother fixed my car for less than Midas quoted me for replacing one hub bearing. I cannot believe how silent my car is now and how smooth it drives. I'm sure some of this is all in my head but I'm pretty impressed. It is good to know someone who can work on cars and won't overcharge.
2. My slight addiction. J. Crew Chino shorts. All of my shorts are J. Crew; it's bad, I know. I got a J. Crew Factory email and decided to have a look. Well, I found me some shorts for $19.99 and free shipping. Can't beat that!!!
3. I got a big girl job!!! I've gone from having a job to quitting that job to nothing to the bakery job to second part-time job. Needlesstosay, I am finally glad to be a little less stressed about money and being a bum to society. I start on Tuesday!! Not that it is super exciting, but I will be using my degree at this job.
4. Essie Nail Polish in Fiji. I've become super obsessed with painting my fingernails. I've always been obsessed with painting my toenails. I can't stand unpainted toes. Well, unforunately, it has now spread to my hands. I feel weird looking at my hands and seeing bare fingernails. Plus, I only like the expensive nail polish-OPI and Essie are the main ones I love.
5. I am finally getting to go home!!! I haven't been home since Memorial Day mainly due to the threat of my wheels falling off my car if I traveled long distances. I am so excited to get away from Nashville for the weekend and see my family and most importantly, my little monkey Wyatt. He is by far the cutest baby, sorry everyone. I'm literally obsessed with my nephew. I go to the extreme of calling him my child, even to my sister. She doesn't seem to mind. :) I will also be trying out a new cake recipe this weekend, stay tuned for the blog!
Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

And so it begins...
I wanted to start this blog mainly for my baking adventures. I have so many recipes that I want to try and have yet to. This will be my excuse to try them now. If only I could find someone to eat it afterwards...
A little background of myself. I realized in college that I wanted to start my own bakery. I have also recently moved to Nashville, TN and begun working at a cupcake shop/bakery, whatever you want to call it. I am absolutely in love with this job!! I am learning so much. I am hoping to keep up with this pretty regularly, but we shall see. I'm hoping I can commit to trying a new recipe a week. I'm not that big of a cooker but I love me some baking. I have a few recipes that I am waiting to test out. Also, if any of you have any that you would love to share, I will gladly accept any and all!!!
Sugar and spice,
Lindsay
